DILI, 11 february 2022 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste would implement its 45 priority programs with the US$2.17 billion of the fiscal year 2022 budget.
Program Structure Rationalization for the 2022 State Budget was reduced to 45 from 145 proposed programs.
The President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo promulgated the General State Budget (GSB) for the 2022 Fiscal Year, totaling US$2.17 billion.
The execution of the US$2.17 billion would be implemented based on the approved programs, including good governance, and institutional management program, with a total budget allocation of US$ 317.3 million or 16.3%, gender equality, and social inclusion (GESI) program, with a total budget allocation of US$233.3 or 12%, roads and bridges program, with a total budget allocation of US$202.2 or 10.4%.
“While the essential other programs, such as the health sector, with a total budget allocation of US$107.45 or 5.53%, education, and training, with a total budget allocation of US$107.33 or 5.52%, and electricity with a total budget allocation of US$101.73 or 5.23%,” said a statement.
The allocated budget to the aforementioned programs represents 75% of the total budget for the fiscal year 2022.
The Government presented the 2022 State Budget proposal to the National Parliament, on october 15,2021, with an amount of US$1.675 billion.
During the 2022 General State Budget’s discussion, the parliament approved 100 new proposals during the specialty discussion of the GSB. So, the budget went up to US$2.17 billion, which was approved by the National Parliament.
The 2022 GSB was promulgated by the Head of State, after the final overall appreciation and approval by the National Parliament, with 44 votes in favor.
