President Ramos-Horta visits local market in Port Vila and donates products to Vanuatu hospitals
DÍLI, 30 July 2026 (TATOLI) – As part of his State Visit to the Republic of Vanuatu, the President of the Republic, Jose Ramos-Horta, visited a local market in Port Vila, where he had the opportunity to interact with vendors and citizens, learning firsthand about some of the local products and the community’s trade dynamics.
During the visit, the Head of State purchased various local items, including fresh agricultural produce, in an initiative aimed at promoting local production and fostering closeness with the host community.
Subsequently, the purchased products were donated to hospitals in Vanuatu as a gesture of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the peoples of Timor-Leste and Vanuatu.
The initiative was intended to make a symbolic contribution to the well-being of patients and healthcare professionals, strengthening the bonds of respect and goodwill between the two countries.
This activity was integrated into the State Visit program and reflected President Ramos-Horta’s commitment to promoting friendly relations and cooperation with the Republic of Vanuatu, while also valuing direct contact with local communities.
The visit took place on the eve of the celebrations of the 46th anniversary of Vanuatu’s Independence, reaffirming the historic bonds of friendship and cooperation between Timor-Leste and Vanuatu.
