DILI, 18 february 2022 (TATOLI) – The Foundation Mahein – a non-governmental organization that advocates the State’s security in Timor – Leste (TL) recommended to the Government strengthen the security to avoid Electoral fraud – in presidential election as well as legislative election.
“Through our advocacy for the State ‘s security, the Government through the Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL) need to strengthen the security border between Timor–Leste and Indonesia to control the illegal crossings of people to avoid the electoral fraud because there are many Indonesian citizens in Kupang, Atambua, hold the Timor–Leste‘s electoral card,” said Interim Executive Director of FM, Sancho Xavier when interviewed by the journalist of Tatoli at the FM‘s office, Bairo Grilhos, Dili today.

The interim Executive Director of FM, underlined that electoral fraud can happen because many citizens of Timor – Leste in Indonesia hold the electoral card of Timor – Leste but they have not actualized their electoral card because they have already become the permanent citizens of Indonesia.
Therefore, the Government through the State security apparatus through the PNTL to strengthen the security at the all-border lines between Timor – Leste and Indonesia to avoid the electoral fraud in the Presidential election which will take place on 19 march 2022.
“We wish for transparent and fair elections without electoral fraud, based on the democratic values which are implemented in Timor-Leste,” Interim Executive Director Sancho Xavier said.
