DILI, 23 february 2022 (TATOLI) – More than 20 students and two employees of Escola Portuguesa Ruy Cinatti de Díli (EPD) are infected with covid-19, revealed the school principal, Acácio Brito.

“The school currently has 1,351 students and staff, of which 25 students and two staff are infected with covid-19. For this reason, they will carry out self-isolation,” the official told Tatoli, in Balide, Dili.

Acácio Brito also recalled that, in the previous year, more than 240 students and employees, equivalent to 17.99%, contracted the infectious disease.

“All teachers, staff and students from 12 to 17 years old already have a complete vaccination against the new coronavirus”, he added.

The leader also underlined that this educational establishment continues to implement measures to prevent covid-19, namely the use of the mask and compliance with social distance.

The country currently reports 22,485 confirmed cases, 125 deaths and 21,423 recoveries since the emergence of the virus.

There are currently 20 patients in the isolation centers of Vera Cruz and Lahane and in the HNGV.

The incidence rate of covid-19 is, on average, in the last week, of 6.6 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili it is 17.3.

Regarding the vaccination rate against the new coronavirus, until this morning, 84.6% of the inhabitants had already taken the first dose, while 71.6% had the complete vaccination schedule.

Timor-Leste has 21.3% of students with the first dose of the vaccine, of which 16.8% have already been fully vaccinated.

The country also reported 1.4% of the population with the booster dose of immunization against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
