DILI, 26 february 2022 (TATOLI) – The leader of the Catholic World Church, Pope Francis shares the sadness experienced by the Ukrainian people over the Russian attack and appeals the world to pray for peace.
The following is an excerpt from Pope Francis’ message from Rome, Italy which was accessed by Tatoli through the official portal, this saturday. “I have great sadness in my heart at the deteriorating situation in Ukraine. Despite the diplomatic efforts of recent weeks, an increasingly worrying scenario is unfolding,” Pope Francis said.
It was suggested, “Like me, many people around the world are experiencing grief and worry. Once again the peace of all is threatened by the interests of the parties. I would like to urge those with political responsibility to undertake a serious examination of conscience before God. The God of peace and not The God of war, who is the Father of all and not just some, who wants us to be brothers and not enemies,” Pope Francis said.
Pope Francis called on all parties involved to refrain from any action that could cause more suffering to the population, destabilize coexistence between states and discrediting international law.
“Now I would like to invite all people, both believers and or not p believe. Jesus taught us that the cruel folly of violence is answered with the weapon of God, by prayer and fasting,” the Pope said.
The Pope added, “I invite everyone to make march 2, (Ash wednesday) a day of fasting for peace. I especially encourage believers to dedicate themselves intensely to prayer and fasting on that day. May the Queen of Peace keep the world from the madness of war, said the Pope.
