EU, U.S. and New Zealand respect TL vote against Russia’s action

DILI, 02 march 2022 (TATOLI)- European Union (EU) Ambassador Andrew Jacobs, along with four other diplomats appreciated the voice of Timor-Leste (TL) condemning and strongly against Russia’s actions against Ukraine.

The European Union together with the representatives from the United States (U.S.), New Zealand and two European countries – France and Portugal, met directly with Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak, to discuss TL’s position in facing Russia’s actions.

“We met with Prime Minister Ruak, to discuss the unfair situation in Ukraine,” EU Ambassador Jacobs told TATOLI after meeting with Prime Minister Ruak at Farol, Dili.

EU Ambassador Jacobs, emphasized “We are with Timor-Leste and various countries in the context of the United Nations to make a strong resolution against Russia in condemning their actions to end the war in Ukraine,” he added.

The European Union is pleased that Timor – Leste has the same vision as the European Union. Timor – Leste and EU in the context of the general meeting of the United Nations to draw up a strong resolution against Russia that will take place this week.

Timor-Leste is voting equally and it is very crucial that all countries vote to fight the war and support Ukraine,” He said.

Andre Jacobs, also informed that this war had a very significant impact, especially on Ukraine. Of course, the European Union and the United States, began to impose sanctions on Russia, economically and Russia will not to access the global finance and to access the European markets.
