DILI, 05 march 2022 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, currently, presented its candidacy to Human Rights Council for the term 2024-2026. Thus, a tiny nation which is, geographically, located between Australia and Indonesia, had a bilateral meeting with the various countries around the world including Namibia.

Namibia is a country in Southern Africa. It is bordered by Angola to the north, Zambia to the northeast, Botswana to the east, South Africa to the southeast and south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.

On 3rd of march 2022, the representative of Timor-Leste’s Government, Adaljiza Magno, the Timorese Minister of foreign affairs cooperation (MoFAC) had a bilateral meeting with Yvonne Dausab, the Minister of Justice of Namibia, in Geneva, Switzerland.

“The bilateral meeting highlighted the need to deepen the cooperation between the two countries,” said an official statement released by MNEC addressed to Tatoli today.

On the other hand, Timor-Leste – a full member of Community of Portuguese speaking countries (CPLP) trough its minister also presented the candidacy of the country to Human Rights Council for the term 2024-2026, and reaffirmed Timor-Leste’s commitment to “the protection and promotion of human rights”.

In this Meeting, Minister Magno was accompanied by the Permanent Representative of Timor-Leste to the United Nations Office and Other International Organizations in Geneva, Lurdes Bessa and Permanent Representative of Timor-Leste to the United Nations in New York, Karlito Nunes.
