Timorese Prime Minister expresses solidarity with plane crash victims in Eastern China

DILI, 22 march 2022 (TATOLI) – Timorese Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, on tuesday, expressed deep consternation about the death of 132 passengers in a plane crash, on monday afternoon, in Eastern China.

The China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-800 was on an internal flight from Kunming to Guangzhou when it came down in remote countryside near the city of Wuzhou, in Guangxi province.

“On behalf of the Government of Timor-Leste, I would like to show my solidarity to the Government of the People’s Republic of China and convey my sincere condolences to the families of the victims of China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-800 with 132 passengers, crashed on monday,” Ruak said in a statement released today.

Chinese state media said that as of tuesday, no survivors had been found, meanwhile, the Chinese state TV reported that there were no foreigners on board.

Chinese airlines generally have a good safety record – the last major accident took place 12 years ago, BBC reported following the crash.

President Xi Jinping has ordered an immediate investigation to find out the cause of the crash, as it shocked many in China, said BBC.
