DILI, 27 march 2022 (TATOLI)- On the celebration of National Police of Timor-Leste for twenty-two Anniversary, President of Republic, Francisco Guterres ‘Lú Olo’ encouraged the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) members to work closely with the local community in rural areas on promoting peace and stability.

President of Republic Fransisco Guterres ‘Lú Olo’ said PNTL must effectively approach the local community. It aims to provide accurate information for the local communities not to commit violence and crime. The communitarian police are responsible for working closely with the local community in the rural area.
“This action must be taken to ensure the local communities are not contributing to the crime. The Communitarian police must be ensuring the local community to avoid the action of crime,” President of Republic said in his remark at PNTL’s training center, Comoro, this sunday.
The Timorese head of State added that to reduce the crime in Timor-Leste, it needs the contribution of whole parts. The community also is able to avoid the action of crime.
It requires more participation by the community on security to contribute to the establishment of the lovely country Timor-Leste.
Mr. Lú Olo emphasized that for each Timorese people must promote a sense of patriotism. Security and safety is one principal point for people to gain welfare.
On the same occasion, the President of the Republic, Lú Olo congratulates all Timorese people who have voted in the presidential election, which holds on 19 march 2022. The success of the presidential election is because of the hard work of PNTL.
“Timor-Leste constitution states that the State has full responsibility to protect all citizens to live in freedom,” Lú Olo said.
All citizens across the country should trust PNTL, the Minister of Justice, and relevant institutions for ensuring the country’s stability.
President Francisco Lú Olo said, PNTL as an institution will be applying laws and protecting all people who live free of crime, which can bring harm to life.
Thus, PNTL agents must obey the order based on law’s instructions to protect people. PNTL must promote peace and ensure all people gain confidence.
PNTL is most required for professionalism on behaviors, discipline through capacity building. It is promoting the PNTL dignity at the community level.
“PNTL is government’s institution that must work in fairness, love and respect the human rights of each Timorese citizen,” The president of Republic Fransisco Guterres ‘Lú Olo’ concluded.
Govt hands over a certificate appreciation to Mahoka
On the other hands, the Timorese’s Government through its Prime minister and Minister of Intern, Taur Matan Ruak handed over the certificate of appreciation to Salvador do Rego Martins Henrique ‘Mahoka’, a Timorese local entrepreneur, who had voluntarily established the Transit’s police post.

“As a Timorese, I contribute to my homeland with no intention to obtain the certificate. However, today the Government gave it to me, I’m appreciating. I established these posts with my own money,” said the Timorese entrepreneur to reporters at the Comoro police training center, this sunday.
Talking over the amount of the establishment of the Police transit posts, the current Director of the Rudal Company, didn’t prefer to announce it to the public.
“The total of the amount I have spent it’s no necessary to announce but a small amount I spent as one of my contribution to my country,” he said.
On the 13th of the october 2021, the Minister of interior accompanied by the PNTL’s Commander General, Commissioner Faustinho da Costa inaugurated the posts of Transit’s Police, located in roundabout areas, Dili.
The total of the Transit’s police post has constructed by the Mahoka were 15, made up of 14 in Dili – the capital of Timor-Leste, at the areas of the Bairru-Pité, Colmera, in front of the Hotel Timor, Becora’s Terminal and one localized at Kaitehu, Liquiça municipalities, for the training of the police.
