Chinese government supports 100,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine and Medical Equipment to MS

DILI, 28 march 2022 (TATOLI)- The Government of the Popular Republic of China through the Chinese Embassy in Timor–Leste supports 100,000 Sinovac vaccines and medical equipment to the Ministry of Health (MS) to continue serve the people of Timor–Leste in the health sector.

“It is very honorable to come and participate on the handed over ceremony to the Ministry of Health, about the 100,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine, 20 units ventilation, 20 unit of oxygen, 20,000 nucleic acid reagents, 50 units infusion, 50 patient monitors, two anesthetic machines, two units ultrasound , 50,000 bottles of disinfectant and 10,000 Protection Person Equipment (PPE),” the Ambassador of China Xiao Jianguo, told in his speech on handed over ceremony of the medical equipment and vaccine Sinovac to the Ministry of Health at SAMES in Kampung Alor, Dili on this monday.

The Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste Xiao Jianguo, explained that, this request for donation was submitted by the Ministry of Health last year, and China received this request positively because of that, the two parties cooperated to overcome the transportation and now all the medical equipment and Sinovac Vaccine had arrived in Timor–Leste, through the sea transportation and air transportation.

As a good practice between the two countries on the health cooperation, China is committed to helping Timor-Leste in overcoming the epidemic and the most important thing is, I wish this friendship to continue in the future. China believes that, with the help of medical equipment and the assistance of the Sinovac vaccine, it will improve the medical and health conditions in Timor-Leste,” Chinese ambassador stated.

China is committed to support Timor-Leste to deal with the Epidemic and promises to improve the health system in Timor-Leste. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, China and Timor-Leste have maintained cooperation until now and bilateral cooperation in the health sector will continue to be improved.

At the same place, Vice Minister of Health Bonifácio Maucoli dos Reis, thanked China’s commitment to always support the health sector to provide health services to the people of Timor-Leste during this time.

“We thanked China for donating Person Protection Equipment (PPE), medical equipment including 100,000 doses of Sinovac Vaccine which has been donated by the Popular Republic of China to Timor–Leste,” the Minister of Health, Bonifácio Maucoli concluded.
