314 Timorese workers in Australia have left the system of SEFOPE ‘s database

DILI, 29 march 2022 (TATOLI)-  So far, 314 Timorese workers have left and out of the SEFOPE‘s database system, informed the National Director of Foreign Employment of the Secretary State for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE), Filomeno Soares,

“They have left the SEFOPE ‘s database, and also stopped their work ties, with the prior companies in Australia and had worked in the other companies in Australia, this will greatly affect their fate,” the National Director of Foreign Employment Filomeno Soares, told TATOLI at the Training Center of SEFOPE in Becora, Dili on this tuesday.

Filomeno Soares explained, SEFOPE has worked closely with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, to coordinate with the Timor-Leste embassy in Australia and also with the labor attaché to solve this problem, as a results, many Timorese workers in Australia whose passports and visas have expired.

SEFOPE respectfully requests that, Timorese workers in Australia must to continue to work base on the employment contracts which is offered by the companies in Australia, and do not think to left from the SEFOPE ‘s data base system, because it will give the negative impact to the other Timorese workers who wishes to work in Australia.

“I appeal to Timorese workers in Australia not to out the system because it will give the negative impact to the other Timorese workers who wish to work in Australia, I also appeal to Timorese workers in Australia to coordinate with the SEFOPE Labor Attaché and the Timor Leste Embassy in Australia to solve your problem, because otherwise you will be prosecuted under Australia ‘s law,”Filomeno Soares, said.

From 2011 to 2022 SEFOPE had selected 15,000 Timorese workers on the SEFOPE ‘s database and already sent more than 1000 Timorese workers to work in the garden of Australia during this time.
