DILI, 29 march 2022 (TATOLI)-Plan International Timor- Leste (PITL) has provided an adequate information regarding sexual reproductive for 100 students from different educational establishments in Dili.
Country Director of PITL, Dilyana Ximenes said, Plan International is working on affording to provide information regarding sexual reproduction to adolescents, especially girls. It is helping girls to fully understand that the decision will be taken on this issue and cannot contribute to early marriage or also destroy underage health.
“Adequate information is most requested to be accessed by young people to enhance knowledge regarding sexual reproductive, PITL country director, Dyliana Ximenes said in her remarks in Delta Nova, this tuesday.
The Program Manager, Etha Mota informed that there are 100 adolescents from different high schools are coming to gather to gain information focused on sexual reproduction.
“The adolescent must understand how to make the right decision. It will not affect for future life. Most young people are not able to take any decisions regarding their sexual orientation. PITL helps to provide information ensuring adolescents can be a victim of the wrong decision-makers,” the Program Manager, Etha Mota told reporters at Delta Nova today.
In addition, according to Mota, PTL is committed to empower young people, especially girls to protect themselves mentally and physically.
Thus, it is also promoting early marriage for girls and boys across the country of Timor-Leste.
The Adviser of heath and right sexual reproductive and participation, Rara Dethan said that PITL is expecting four essential points can be achieved:
- PITL wants adolescents can be understood by decision-makers.
- Adolescents understand to get someone to help them to access the right to a sexual decision.
- PITL is in cooperation with local partners and civic society to promote adolescents’ rights regarding sexual reproduction.
- It is required the cooperation between government relevant ministry and parents to help adolescents, especially girls and women to make the right decision regarding sexual reproduction.
100 students are coming from Novel da Paz school, 28 e Novembru technique vocational school, 30 de Agostu high school and among others.
PITL has covered 80 countries to promote young people’s rights and promote equality for girls and boys.
PITL has the main vision to help girls to take the right decisions to ensure that all children can be reached for welfare in the future.
According to Minister of Health Data shows that the pregnant women under the age of 19 assisting at the municipality level composed of Aileu total 100, Ainaro 154, Baucau 431, Bobonaro 936, Covalima 418, Dili 511, Ermera 822, Lautem 80, Liquiça 601, Manatuto 81, Manufahi 122, Oe-Cusse 172 and Viqueque 212. The total is 4640.
