Belt and Road Media Cooperation: Fuzhou Initiative

We, the media representatives attending the 2026 Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road, hailing from different countries and regions and gathered in Fuzhou, hereby issue the following initiative on promoting media exchanges and cooperation for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation:

  • Committed to Win-Win Cooperation. Openness and cooperation represent the prevailing trend of history, and mutual benefit is what the people of all countries aspire to. President Xi Jinping proposed the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013. Over the past 13 years, Belt and Road cooperation has grown from a Chinese initiative into an international practice and entered a new stage of high-quality development, making new contributions to driving global economic growth, improving global economic governance, and enhancing the well-being of people in all countries. Belt and Road partner countries have pursued connectivity and common development, and demonstrated through concrete actions that only win-win cooperation can enable us to get things done, do them well, and accomplish great things.
  • Building Consensus. The media play an irreplaceable and important role in disseminating information, enhancing mutual trust, and building consensus. Media organizations across all countries should uphold professional integrity, discard subjective bias, identify and reject misinformation, and amplify positive voices. Through rational and fair reporting, we should build bridges of understanding and mutual trust, and foster a favorable public opinion environment in which opportunities are shared, challenges are met together, and shared prosperity is pursued.
  • Deepening Content Collaboration. Media organizations across all countries will continue to rely on multilateral cooperation platforms such as the Belt and Road News Network to carry out cooperation projects including joint interviews, personnel exchanges, information sharing, and co-production of programs. We should keep improving a wide-ranging, multi-form, and regular cooperation mechanism, produce more compelling and heartfelt quality works, in order to actively serve as recorders, participants, and promoters of Belt and Road cooperation.
  • Embracing the Technological Wave. A new generation of information technologies, including artificial intelligence, is profoundly reshaping the media landscape and the public opinion ecosystem, bringing both opportunities and challenges. Media organizations should keep pace with the trend toward digital and intelligent development, uphold the principle that technology should serve progress and the greater good, and explore in greater depth the rich dimensions of Belt and Road cooperation in green, digital, and health fields. We should leverage technology to empower the dissemination of quality content, so that the voice of Belt and Road cooperation can cross mountains and seas and reach broader audiences.
  • Deepening People-to-People Bonds. Media organizations should serve as envoys of civilizational exchanges, expand diverse mechanisms for people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and organize a rich variety of grassroots exchange activities, so as to promote mutual appreciation and mutual learning among civilizations. Fujian is the only province in China with the character “Fu” (blessing) in its name, and the auspicious meaning of “Fu” is shared by different countries and peoples. Seeking blessings, praying for blessings, and hoping for blessings are common aspirations of people across the world. Using “Fu” as a bridge, we welcome media organizations from all countries to participate in and share in this endeavor, integrate the shared aspiration for a better life into the communication practices of Belt and Road cooperation, and translate aspirations rooted in the hearts of the people into consensus built on mutual trust and mutual understanding. Looking ahead, we look forward to continued close exchanges among media organizations across all countries, joining hands to convey the voice of our times for shared development, and contributing greater media strength to building a community with a shared future for mankind and a better world.
