TL’s embassy should apply for a free Visa on VoA to Indonesia

The Immigration Attache of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Timor–Leste (TL), Eben Rifqy Taufan.

DILI, 30 march 2022 (TATOLI) –Timor-Leste’s embassy in Indonesia should apply for a free visa to ensure Timorese can get a free Visa on arrival (VoA).

The Immigration Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Timor-Leste, Eben Rifqy Taufan said the TL Embassy in Indonesia must work effectively on affording to be able to get a Visa On Arrival (VOA). It is ensuring Timorese citizens will gain a free visa to visit Indonesia.

“TL representatives working in Jakarta should fight for free visas.  The Indonesian Embassy continues to support TL for it,” explained Eben Rifqy Taufan to Tatoli by telephone.

He added that currently, the Indonesian embassy in Dili continues to make efforts and provide suggestions to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, especially to the Immigration Center. Therefore, TL can get VOA or free-Visa due to the relationship between the two countries.

“Hopefully soon TL can enter a VOA country and thankfully can be visa-free, Mr. Ambassador and we are trying to ask TL to enter, we understand the situation in TL because of family ties,” he said.

The visa process can be applied online, at the visa approval application. It is directly at the Indonesian Embassy in Dili with a Visit Visa type at a price of $50 and for a Limited Stay Visa – Limited Stay Permit Card at a price of $150.

He explained, for TL citizens who want to enter Indonesia with the aim of working, they must obtain a recommendation from the Ministry of Manpower in Indonesia.

As for students and students who want to study in Indonesia and even then, they must get a recommendation from the Ministry of Education.

For him, currently, the Indonesian Embassy is only following the procedures and rules that are directed from the central immigration to the Indonesian Embassy in Dili, until now the Indonesian Embassy has not charged a certain price for the visa processing process.

“If there are schools or colleges that help with visa processing or sponsors, it may be another cost but the current price is the one set by the Indonesian government. If someone paid up to $300, maybe he went through someone else to help take care of it.

My message is, don’t force yourself to enter Indonesia, keep looking for a visa through an agent, so the price is like that,” he said.
