The Government of Timor–Leste holds inclusive dialogue with partners discuss NDP of 2023

DILI, 22 april 2022 (TAROLI)- The Government of Timor-Leste holds an inclusive dialogue with the partners composed by the private sector, Non-governmental organizations, international agencies and other related organizations, to jointly define a National Development Plan (NDP) for 2023 at the Ministry of Finance, Aitarak-Laran on tuesday.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (MECAE), Joaquim Amaral said, this dialogue was to strengthen the Government’s cooperation with partners to look at the achievements that have been done since 2018-2022 and plans for 2023 ‘s program.

“This dialogue is an initiative of Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak, together with MECAE to organize an inclusive national dialogue with the private sector, NGOs and national and international partners,’’ the Executive told TATOLI at the Ministry of Finance, Aitarak–Laran, Dili, today.

In addition, all the achievements are achieved, according to the Executive, because of the cooperation between the Government and of partners so far. Therefore, with this dialogue, the both parties will conduct an evaluation to improve the work performance in the following year.

“We see that the private sector needs support in various sectors. Thus, the Government will continue to cooperate with them to participate in the 2023 national development plan properly,” Minister Joaquim Amaral said.

At the same place, the Vice President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste (CCI-TL), of Infrastructure Affairs, João Alves emphasized that the private sector is an important pillar for the country to carry out the national development such as, opening the other industrial businesses.

The obligation of CCI-TL to provide ideas to the Government and other partners for development and economic improvement in Timor – Leste.

The Government’s achievements during 2018-2022 – Timor-Leste has been free from political uncertainty, the participation of the women at high political levels in Southeast Asia, increased value to face the corruption through 41/100.

In addition, the Government also held a program “Cesta Básica” as a “staples food” to reduce the impact of Covid-19 on the family’s economy. And, furthermore, “Cesta Básica” ‘s program also provides employment for 30,000 Timorese through 286 companies that participate in this program.

The inclusive dialogue forum was attended by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Trade (MTCI), Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance, CCI-TL, FONGTIL and representatives of the Embassies in Timor-Leste.
