DILI,13 april 2022 (TATOLI) – The Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) today distributes the materials and items necessary for the electoral act on the second Round of Elections in municipalities and Diaspora.
“We distributed the electoral equipment in the 12 municipalities including the Special Administrative Region of Oe-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA),’’ the General Director of STAE, Acilino Manuel Branco, told TATOLI on the ceremony of handed over the ballot papers in Caicoli-Dili.
The director of STAE also informed that, the transport of electoral material to the RAOE is through the border land because the Government of Timor – Leste had coordinated with the security authorities at the border.
Acilino Branco, recalled that “the number of printed ballot papers is changed from the first round, because there are 312 new voters who will follow the election on 19 of april 2022”.
The official recalls the first round of voting, where 900 bulletins were printed. STAE registered 859,613 voters throughout the territory and in the diaspora, of which 52,500 were registered nationally and 7,119 abroad.
The President of the National Elections Commission (CNE), José Agustinho Belo, argues for all authorities as a municipality to collaborate with the National Police of Timor – Leste (PNTL), to guarantee the success of the elections.
The PNTL Commander-General, Commissioner Faustino da Costa, assured that his staff ensure the suffrage, from the distribution of materials until to count the votes in the level of municipalities.
The Minister of Administration (MSA), Miguel Pereira de Carvalho, said that the distribution of the equipment was observed by the national and international observers, fiscal, candidates and communication of media to ensure the transparency in the election.
