DILI, 14 april 2022 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste, on wednesday, approved the international tender for the public contract for the acquisition and installation of the digital optical cable from Timor-Leste to Darwin, Australia, and Port Hedland, through a fiber-optic submarine cable.
The Interim Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Rui Gomes, said that the draft deliberation was presented by the Minister of Planning and Planning, José Maria dos Reis.
In regard to the fiber optic cable project, the National Parliament (PN) had already asked the Government to accelerate the process of the international tender for the acquisition and installation of the fiber-optic.
In january, four companies – SACOM TL, Metrolindo, Moratelindo, and Telkomcel – submitted their proposals to Timor-Leste’s TradeInvest to invest in the fiber optic project.
The government of Timor-Leste has allocated US$ 41.6 million of the 2022 General State Budget for the acquisition of submarine fiber optic cable equipment.
