DILI, 18 april 2022 (TATOLI)– Episcopal of Timorese (CET) through the JPIC National Commission for Peach and integrity and Creation  (JPIC) is reminding the public to be able to take part in the second round of the presidential election by peace.

The chairman of JPIC, Priest Júlio Crispin said JPIC is the trusteeship institute of CET which is led directly by the Dili Archdiocese, Baucau Diocese, and Bobonaro Diocese to provide conferences on responses to the 2022 presidential election.

“CET through JPIC does not recommend any candidate to be elected by the community, especially Christians, but rather asks the community to vote according to people’s will,” said Júlio Crispin at CET Balide, this monday.

The Director of PEC (Citizenship Education Program) at JPIC, Pastor Domingos Soares Maubere asked the public to actively participate in democratic parties by voting in the presidential election as responsible citizens.

He also reminded each candidate and their followers to have a strong determination and be proud to accept the results of the presidential election well in order to jointly maintain domestic security and peace.

“This is a democratic party where we make a party where we all rejoice but there are winners and losers but this is the way, in all competitions we must have a big heart and be ready to accept the result,” he said.

The priest said a leader must accept the result of the election, one of both candidates must be patient for another opportunity and those who win must be ready to fulfill their duty to serve the people.

The second round of presidential elections will be held tomorrow (19/04) with candidate number one being José Ramos Horta, former President and Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, in second place is Francisco Guterres ‘Lú Olo’ the current President and former President National Parliament.
