DILI, 19 april 2022 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic today promulgated the allocation of subsidies for fuels to national public, air and maritime transport operators and companies that are dedicated to agricultural and fishing activities.

The communiqué of the Presidency of the Republic recalls that the promulgation of Lú Olo results from the approval, in the Council of Ministers, on april 13, of a decree-law to respond to the increase in fuel prices caused by the war in Ukraine.

“The situation in Ukraine causes a substantial increase in the price of a barrel of oil. The aim of this diploma is to guarantee the stability of fuel prices and avoid harmful consequences for the economy and for consumers”, says the note to which Tatoli had access today.

The measure is applied temporarily and involves the allocation of fuel vouchers with a 100% discount on the difference between the average price of a liter of gasoline or diesel in december 2021 and the current price.

“If a liter of fuel rises from one dollar to 1.25 cents, the government gives a subsidy of 25 cents”, says the document.

The National Petroleum and Minerals Authority will calculate the subsidy amount. The Ministry of Transport and Communications will pay transport operators, while the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries will pay companies with agricultural and fishing activities.
