More than 90 Portuguese teachers of CAFÉ School to arrive on monday

DÍLI, 21 april 2022 (TATOLI) – More than 90 Portuguese teachers of the Centers of Learning and School Training (CAFE) will arrive in Timor-Leste from Portugal on monday, said Coordinator, Antonieta de Jesus.

“For School Year 2022, 123 Portuguese teachers would be deployed to CAFÉ Schools across the country, of which 20 were new. Of these teachers, 92 will arrive on monday (25/04) in Timor-Leste at around 6 am, on a EuroAtlantic flight. Meanwhile, five teachers are sick, so they can’t travel on this flight, maybe they can do it in may. And six other teachers have been in Timor-Leste since january,” the Director told TATOLI, in Vila Verde, Dili.

De Jesus said that the 20 new teachers will arrive in the country within the month of may. The purchase of tickets for these teachers has already been approved by the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS), Armindo Maia.

“Regarding the number of the deployment of these Portuguese teachers would be depended on the needs of each school. For example, we have to prioritize those CAFE schools that have more levels of education,” she said.

She recalled that last year CAFÉ had 136 Portuguese and 219 Timorese teachers.
