PM: presidential inauguration ceremony to be held on 20 May 2022

DILI, 21 abríl 2022 (TATOLI)— The Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Taur Matan Ruak informed that the Government will prepare for the presidential inauguration ceremony to be held on 20 of May 2022 in Tasi Tolu, Dili.

“We discussed the 2022-2027 presidential inauguration which will be the responsibility of the Ministry of State Administration (MSA), we expect that the preparations are effective until the date of the ceremony,”Country’s Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak, told the journalist after meeting with President of Republic, Lu Olo at his office Aitarak laran Dili.

The government is working on preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of the country’s fifth elected president, José Ramos Horta which concedes with commemoration of the Independence Day, which will be held on 2 May 2022.

Speaking to journalist after the meeding,PM stated that the 2022 presidential election campaign was over, and he had to focus on work.

“I thought the campaign was over; now I speak as a State leader. So there is no change, even the government will prepare for the inauguration ceremony after five years of the presidential election,”

However, the PM has not mentioned who will be invited to attend the ceremony.

During the meeting, the PM also informed the heads of state about the situation in the country, especially in the second and final round of the presidential election.

It is known that, The Country Electoral Administration (STAE), has concluded all the voting results from national and international, the results show José Ramos Horta winning over Lú Olo with a total of 397,145 (62.09%) of the vote while Lú Olo with 242,440 (37.91%) of the vote. The results of the vote have been sent to the Court of Appeal to be officially announced.
