Lautem, 07 may 2022 (TATOLI) – The Director of the coconut oil company ‘Cipriano Feliz Lda or Souro Coconut Oil’, Arsénio da Costa Pinto Cabral, called on the Investment and Export Promotion Agency I.P (TradeInvest Timor-Leste) to support the company with sending its coconut oil overseas.
“As a Timorese who is investing in coconut oil production, I am no longer willing to receive any financial support given by the government. Therefore, I would like to ask TradeInvest to facilitate us with having access to overseas market to export our coconut oil” Director of the Souro Coconut Oil, Arsénio da Costa Pinto Cabral made the comments during a visit of the TradeInvest team to the site of the Souro Coconut Oil Production, in Louro hamlet of Souro Village, in Lospalos Administrative Post of Lautem Municipality.
In response to the request presented by Souro Coconut Oil, the Acting Director of Investment Promotion (DIP) of TradeInvest, Josefina Correia de Araújo said that TradeInvest Timor-Leste is a public institution responsible for promoting, facilitating, monitoring, and advocating Timor-Leste’s private companies in export activities based on Government Decree-Law No.45/2015.
“Our role is to facilitate private companies in terms of boosting their production capacity, as well as help them in having access to the international market. Thus, TradeInvest played a crucial role in promoting the products of the Timor-Leste’s private owned company both at the national and international level,” said Correia.
So far, Cipriano Feliz Unipessoal Lda has exported more than 10 tons of its locally produced products to Australia.
Apart from coconut oil production, the company is also committed to continuing its investment in fish farming, guest houses, and community-based tourism.
