DILI, 09 june 2022 (TATOLI) – Timorese Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak expressed his deep appreciation for the statement made publicly by the President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta, a day earlier that he will not dissolve the national parliament to worsen the political situation in the country.
Prime Minister Ruak made the comments after his weekly meeting with the President of the Republic at the Palace of the President, in Dili, on thursday.
“As the Head of the Government, I am immensely happy with the intension of President Horta to not dissolve the parliament,” Ruak said.
“As you all know to accelerate the national development, we all have a common responsibility to ensure political stability and stable governance in the country.”
Ruak stressed that Timor-Leste’s political impasse in 2017 and 2018 set back the progress and the national development: “We are happy with Horta’s commitment to promoting national dialogue. The entire nation praises his commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the country.”
“President Horta has always reiterated his idea of having a national dialogue with other State Organs, including the Government, and National Parliament. And We are deeply grateful for such commitment,” Ruak concluded.
A day earlier, at the UNTL Campus, in Hera Dili, President Horta declared publicly that he would not dissolve the National Parliament to worsen the current political situation in the country.
