Around 29 AHDMTL members will attend educational training in Kupang- Indonesia

DILI, 01 july 2022 (TATOLI)- The founder of the Association for the Blind in Timor – Leste (AHDMTL), Gaspar Afonso said, AHDMTL will send 29 AHDMTL members to attend educational training in Kupang Indonesia soon, saying that this program was realized because AHDMTL has a good cooperative relationship with the Indonesian Embassy in Timor – Leste.

“I have been informed by the Indonesian Embassy in Timor – Leste that soon the Indonesian Embassy will send 29 ADHMTL members to attend educational training in Kupang-Indonesia for two months,” AHDMTL founder Gaspar Afonso told TATOLI at the AHDMTL office, Manleunana, Dili on Friday .

He added that before the 29 members left for Kupang, they would take an Indonesian language course in the Indonesian cultural park building at Mascarenhas, Dili for two weeks.

“They will attend an Indonesian language course for two weeks at the Indonesian Cultural Park, Mascarenhas Dili, and before leaving for Kupang to attend education and training,” he said.

Gaspar Afonso explained that the purpose of sending 29 AHDMTL members to Kupang Indonesia was to participate in educational training, both formal education and non-formal education, to increase knowledge so that they could pass it on to other AHDTML members.

“With this training, they will learn new knowledge about educational materials, especially empowering educational capacity and educational leadership, then it will be implemented for other AHDMTL members to contribute to the national development process in Timor – Leste,”

On this occasion on behalf of AHDMTL “I would like to thank the Indonesian Embassy in Timor – Leste for being willing to send 29 AHDMTL members to attend educational training in Kupang. I also ask the Indonesian Embassy to continue to provide educational training to other organizations dealing with persons with disabilities in Timor – Leste. Furthermore, I would also like to suggest to 29 AHDMTL members use this opportunity to study hard and transform into other AHDMTL members in Timor – Leste when they return to this country,” he concluded.

At the same time, Afonso urges the Government of Timor-Leste to place an adequate budget based on the program for persons with disabilities and to cooperate with organizations of persons with disabilities in Timor-Leste to implement inclusive capacity building to develop the talents of persons with disabilities to join the national development process in Timor – Leste and enjoy the same rights as everyone else in Timor – Leste.
