DILI, 06 july 2022 (TATOLI) – The Director of Technical Vocational School (TVS), Francisco Guterres, informed that since 2014 until now VTS has collaborated with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to provide Korean language lessons to students at VTS Becora.
“From 2014 until now, VTS Becora with KOICA has been teaching the Korean language to students to prepare them to be able to work in South Korea,” Guterres told TATOLI in his office in Becora, Dili on Tuesday (05/07 ).
Guterres explained that Timor – Leste is not industrialized so it is very difficult for VTS postgraduate students in Timor – Leste to find work even though they are experts in electronics, automotive, and civil engineering, electrification, and other related technical skills.
“Therefore, VTS Becora decided to teach the Korean language to students since the Government of Korea has accepted Timorese workers to work in South Korea but in one condition the workers should know the Korean language”
Guterres also said, VTS, Becora has recently collaborated with the Secretary of Professional and Vocational Training (SEFOPE) to facilitate graduates from VTS, to work in South Korea.
“Through this collaboration, many students who graduated from Becora VTS have worked in South Korea and have successfully supported their families and invested in Timor – Leste,” he said.
VTS Becora has six majors including electricity, electronics, automotive, civil engineering, mechanical, and informatics, while this school has 1516 students, 97 teachers, and 4 Korean teachers from South Korea, teaching Korean, mathematics, and English.
