President Horta return from Indonesia after one-week visits

DILI, july 26, 2022 (TATOLI)— After completing a series of activities in Indonesia, the President of the Republic of Timor-Leste, José Ramos Horta, and his entourage arrived back in his homeland, Timor-Leste, this Monday by renting a PK-TWY jet belonging to Indonesia.

President José Ramos Horta arrived at Nicolau Lobato Comoro International Airport, at 12:45 TL hour and was greeted by the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, a line of ministers, as well as a welcoming ceremony from members of the Timor-Leste Defense (F-FDTL) as a symbol of the return of the leader of the state to the homeland.

“I just finished a state visit to the Republic of Indonesia and as usual if there is a new President, I have to visit abroad. And on my first visit to Indonesia I am going with the Government delegation,” President Horta said at a press conference at the Comoros International Airport.

The Head of State’s visit was accompanied by the Government delegation including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Minister of Transportation and Communication, the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, and representatives of members of the Timor-Leste House of Representatives.

According to President Horta, the presence of ministers and members of the PN during this visit is important and they have the responsibility to make decisions that will be implemented in this country in the future.

“Their presence is very important. The visit itself went well and President Joko Widodo has been closely monitoring the situation in Timor and giving us ideas on what to do in the future,” he said.

On this occasion, President Ramos Horta also revealed that Timor-Leste is happy to receive President Jokowi’s visit, but President Ramos Horta is aware of President Jokowi’s full schedule in the current G20 activities.

President Ramos Horta and his entourage made a state visit on July 18, 2022, in addition to meeting with President Jokowi, he also met with the former President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Indonesia, Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat and other officials.
