DILI, august 19, 2022 (TATOLI) – Former Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, special envoy of the President of the Republic José Ramos Horta, will meet with Pope Francis on August 25 to discuss the Document on Human Fraternity and Common Coexistence in the Vatican.
Confirmation of the meeting has reached the Embassy of Timor-Leste in Rome.
“Pope Francis will meet with Xanana Gusmão before the coronation ceremony of the new cardinal,” the statement said.
Today Gusmão departed for Rome, Italy, for the coronation ceremony of 21 cardinals, including Timor-Leste’s Cardinal, Dom Virgílio do Carmo da Silva.
So far the Document on Human Fraternity and Coexistence was signed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahamad Al-Tayyib, on February 4, 2019, in Abu Dhabi.
