PR Horta will visit Australia to intensify the bilateral cooperation  of both countries

Dili, 05 september 2022 (TATOLI)– President of the Democratic Republic of Timor – Leste, José Ramos-Horta, will undertake a State visit to Australia as a Guest of the Australian Government from 6 to 11 September 2022.

The visit of the President following the previous invitation from the Australian Governor General, Han David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) which was warmly welcomed by President Horta.

“Australia and Timor-Leste are close neighbors and close friends. The visit will be an opportunity to strengthen the partnership and friendship between our nations and explore ways for further cooperation on economic development, defense and security, education, labor mobility, and regional initiatives” said Horta in a Statement.

Following the agenda, The President will begin the State visit in Canberra, Sydney, and Darwin.

In Canberra, President Ramos-Horta will hold meetings with the Governor-General, the Hon Anthony Albanese, and Senator the Hon Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs.

President Horta will deliver two major speeches during his visit to address the National Press Club in Canberra and the Lowy Institute in Sydney.

The Embassy of Timor-Leste in Australia will host a reception in Canberra in honor of President Ramos-Horta will return to Timor-Leste via Darwin where PR Horta will meet with Her Honor the Honourable Vicki O’Halloran AO Administrator of the Northern Territory and The Hon Natasha Fyles MLA, Chief Minister of the Northern Territory:

At the same time, PR Horta will visit the Royal Darwin Hospital, Menzies School of Health Research, National Critical Care Centre, and LNG facilities.
