DILI, 16 September 2022 (TATOLI)- 20 Timorese women from six municipalities receive the certification in the leadership education program.
MOFA executive director, Yasinta Luzina said the women’s educational leadership program helps local women to gain some knowledge to lead themselves, in the family, in the community, and also in the working environment.
“We are organizing this program to educate local women to lead themselves in family, community level and working environment,’’’ MOFA executive director, Yasinta Luzina told reporters at Delta Nova, this friday.
She added that various subjects are given to them to enhance their leadership capacity. The subjects comprise leadership, human rights, personal development, gender equality, income diversification, project management, trade strategy, finance, and business management in addition to the develops women’s knowledge of human dignity and self-confidence.
“There are 20 women who are taking part in the leadership program, they are coming from six different municipalities such as Dili, Manatuto, Ainaro, Liquica, Aileu, and Manufahi municipalities”
The Executive officer of Fair Trade, Mike Briers AO said this program is realized under the coordination with Australian and New Zealand governments, adding that this program is offered to help develop the knowledge of local women to be great leaders to lead coopreative groups.
“We are working closely with cooperative groups, especially with a coffee cooperative in Timor-Leste. It helps women cooperatives in rural areas to become leaders and to get a fair price on their business,’’ The Executive officer of FairTrade, Mike Briers AO explained
President of the Republic of Timor-Leste, José Ramos Horta congratulates 20 graduates on the completion of the leadership education program.
‘’The women leadership program is a useful program to develop women’s business and increase revenue. However, a businesswoman should have a skill in business planning, accounting, and ect,’’ Horta said in his remarks.
Horta said FairTrade is a world organization that will help local women in rural areas to access coffee at fair prices.
This program is facilitated by “Movimento Feto Foin Saé’’ (MOFA) association and funded by the Australian Government through the EIF annual budget.
FairTrade has provided 2.4 million USD to the coffee cooperative in Timor-Leste to run a coffee program activity.
