Timor-Leste and Indonesia discuss an agreement to promote tourism at the border


DILI, 03 october 2022 (TATOLI)—Timor-Leste and Indonesia discuss a cooperation agreement to promote tourism at the borders.

The communication was held between the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Indonesia, Filomeno Aleixo da Cruz, and the Minister of Tourism and Economic Creative of the Republic of Indonesia, Sandiaga Sallahudin Uno accompanied by Timor-Leste Trade Attache, Filomeno Aleixo da Cruz and the Ambassador of Indonesia to Timor-Leste Okto Dorinus Manik, accompanied in Indonesia on September 29 recently.

“The meeting discussed the topic of supporting the promotion of tourism events between the two countries, especially the Cross Border Festival,” said a statement issued by the office of the Ministry of Tourism, Trade, and Industry-Timor-Leste.

Ambassador Cruz greatly appreciated the program by initiating the communication with the relevant ministries to officialese the cooperation agreement between the two countries, implement the program, and provide benefits for the local community.

While Minister, Sandiaga Uno wrote in a statement said his side will conduct a training program right on target, aimed at developing capabilities, knowledge, and fieldwork.

“We are creating tourism-quality events at the border. We discussed a lot on how to support activities to promote tourism between the two countries, including the implementation of events at the borders of the two countries,” he wrote.

He explained that the two countries will continue to collaborate to develop their respective tourist destinations, open up business opportunities and contribute to creating 4.4 million jobs to increase the competence of Human resources.
