Jape Kong Su laid to rest in Hera- Dili

DILI, 06 october 2022 (TATOLI) -Jape Kong Su the owner of Timor-Plaza, who died on 26 September 2022 in Australia laid to rest on Thursday (6/09/2022) in Hera Dili, Timor-Leste.

Jape Kong Su was declared dead by his family on 26 September 2022 in Australia. His body was transported from Australia to Timor-Leste with Qantaslink airline and arrived in Dili on Thursday morning on the same date as his funeral.

After arriving in Timor-Leste, his body was transported to Timor-Plaza, Many staffs and the Community paid their last tribute to Jape Kong Su in Timor-Plaza before proceeding with the funeral procession to Hera.

At the funeral rites, Alan Jape, son of Jape Kung Su, said he was saddened to lose his beloved father who worked hard for the country’s development.

“Today is the saddest day for not being able to see our father and no longer feel his love but his love is imprinted in our hearts, only death can take us apart, and losing our father is a very sad moment that we never wish to happen, but we cannot avoid this reality. His love and dedication are always be remembered and never be forgotten,” said Alan Jape.

Before Jape Kong Su was laid to rest, the organizing committee broadcast a video showing Jape living his life as a businessman in his homeland and outside the country. 

Jape’s funeral was  a completely private funeral, only a few family members and close friends were allowed to accompanied his coffin and settle the funeral of the deceased.

Completing the funeral rites, Zélia Belo, the Worker’s Representative at Timor Plaza, expressed her sadness, saying Jape is a very inspiring person and hopes his generation will continue his work to realize his dreams. 

“I have worked with Jape for ten years. I learned a lot from Jape. He is a very inspiring because he taught us to be honest, work hard, and be devoted to our work,” Belo said.

According to Belo, Jape Kong Su has great hope and dedication for Timor Leste: “Hopefully the sons and daughters will continue to work to realize these visions,”

The funeral was attended by the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, President of the National Parliament, Aniceto Guterres, members of the Government, Diplomatic Corps, Private, National, and International including the Jape Family from Australia and Maubara.

Previously after his death was pronounced by his family, the Timorese Government, National Leader, and Timorese people wrote a condolence message and express their heartfelt sympathy regarding the death of Jape.

While on Tuesday 4 October , Timor-Leste National Parliament approved a vote of condolences over the death of  Jape Kong Su, who died at the age of 97.

President of the National Parliament, Aniceto Longuinhos Guterres Lopes, said the state had awarded Jape Kong Su for his dedication and contribution to the country’s economy.

“Jape Kong Su is a pioneer to advance Timor-Leste’s economy,” the President of Parliament said.

A vote of condolences was presented by Lidia Martins and Felix da Costa, members of the National Parliament of Fretilin, saying the PN should approve the vote of condolences for Jape Kong Su, added that Jape had contributed to Timor-Leste since the country was struggling for independence, through building health care centers for the population and construction of Timor Plaza’s first commercial center for a new generation that creates more jobs for Timorese.

On the same date, Parliament expresses its deepest sympathy for the death of Jape Kong Su and extends condolences to his family and friends.

Jape Kong Su, a Chinese Timorese who was born in Balibo (Timor-Leste), became a great national investor in the private sector that built the largest and the most well-known shopping center Timor Plaza.

Timor Plaza was built by Dili Development Lda., one of the Jape Group of Companies, which is developing itself in the development of large, high-quality properties for rent as retail, residential, and office space in Timor-Leste.
