DILI, 26 october 2022 (TATOLI) – The Managing Director and CEO of Timor Resources, Suellen Osborne said the result of the production test of oil discovery in the southern municipalities (Feto Kmaus and Liurai wells) will be known by Christmas.
“Of the two wells that we have drilled, we had two oil discoveries. Those discoveries have proven that there is active oil in the contract area. But the commercialization of that discovery is not known until we do the production test,” Osborne told reporters at the Presidential Palace, today.
Osborne said that activities on the south coast are still in the exploration phase: “But by Christmas time we should know whether it will be successful or not.”
She said Timor Resources is now drilling the third well called Lafaek: “Lafaek is deeper, at 3400 meters. So, 3.4km is the depth we are going to drill. We are only now at 1.4km and there is still a lot more to go in drilling.”
“So, to test the oil from Kumbili well, we need to open up the well again. Timor Resources suspended the well after we drilled it following permission from the National Petroleum and Minerals Authority (ANPM). And what we will do is open up the rig again and carry out the on-site flow testing. So, in that on-site flow testing, the oil will come to the surface, and then we will be able to quantify how much oil is producible from that area,” she explained.
Osborne said an extended production test should be approved in the short term by ANPM to ascertain how many barrels of oil are produced a day.
“For us, there is nothing more constructive than investing when there is stability in the country,” she added.
She emphasized that more than 550 jobs have been created on a short and long-term basis for Timorese people in the exploration.
Timor Resources Pty Ltd is a privately owned Australian oil and gas company, incorporated in 2016, for the sole purpose of exploring oil and gas onshore in Timor-Leste.
