BCTL reports a decrease in TL’s petroleum fund

DILI, 09 november 2022 (TATOLI) – The Central Bank of Timor–Leste (BCTL) today released the Quarterly Report of the Petroleum Fund of Timor-Leste for the period ended september 30, 2022.

The report shows that the capital of the fund as of september 30, 2022 was US$16,91 billion compared to US$17,84 billion at the end of the previous quarter.

The report shows that the gross capital inflows during the quarter were US$93,99 million.

The gross investment income of Fund for the quarter was -US$617,13 million comprising dividends and interest received were US$70,14 million, change in the market value of financial assets was (US$678.74) million and FX movement was (US$8,53) million. This represented the total portfolio return for the quarter was -3.48% while the benchmark return for the period was -3.71%.

The Highlights of the LIX Quarterly Report, which covers the period from july 1, 2022 to september 30, 2022 include:

·         The capital of the Fund at 30 September 2022 was $16,91 billion.

·         Gross cash inflows to the fund from taxes were $93,99 million.

·         Cash outflows were $407,658 million of which $404 million was transferred to the State Budget and $3,658 million was for management cost.

·         The total Fund return for the quarter was -3.48% compared to the benchmark return was -3.71%.

·         The portfolio return of the Financial Market Investments for the quarter was -3.68% while the benchmark return for the period was -3.92%.
