“On behalf of Pelican Paradise, I would like to thank the government for letting us build this mega project. This project will greatly benefit the Timorese people by employing more than 1,000 Timorese,” Chan told reporters in Tibar on saturday

The President of the Authority of Luquica Municipality, Pedro Paulo Gomes called on the communities of Liquiçá to contribute to stability and peace, in order to guarantee the good progress of the construction of the project: “Our young people must prepare themselves with updated skills to be employed in this mega project.”

Bento Coreia da Conceicao, the Chief of Tibar Village urged Pelican Paradise to employ the youth of Tibar Village.

In january 2022, during the signing of the Special Investment Agreement (SIA) of the 5-star hotel project at Novo Turismo Hotel in Dili, the President of the Pelican Paradise, Datuk Dr. Ong Han Nam revealed that due to the delay in the implementation of the project and the revision of the master plan, the investment cost of the project went up to US$700M.

Han Nam said that the 5-star hotel with 300 rooms is unlike any other hotel in the country, adding, therefore, it would attract lots of tourists to the country.

He added that the first phase of the project’s implementation would create more than 1,200 jobs: “Our policy is to involve local people and we do not want to bring people from outside the country. We believe that we can train the local population.”
