South Korea will support Timor-Leste build an industrial fishing port at Idadarat- Iliomar

DILI, 22 november 2022 ( TATOLI) -The General Director of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Acacio Guterres, revealed that the South Korean Government through the Ministry of Oceanic and Fisheries has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Directorate of Fisheries under TL’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fishery to build the fishing industry port in the municipality of Lautem, Administrative Post of Iliomar – Idarat.

“The MoU was signed last week between MAF and South Korea’s Government while the Representatives from South Korea will visit TL by early 2023 to carry out the feasibility study on 50 hectares of land that has been prepared by the Government of Timor – Leste,” the Director General of Fisheries, Acacio Guterres, told TATOLI in his office Comoro, Dili on tuesday.

Guterres added that the feasibility study will be conducted within three months starting from January to March and further will construct a fishing industry port based on the Bill of Quantity.

” The feasibility study will be conducted with a total of US$800,000 for three months, from january to march,”

So far Guterres said, the two industrial fishing ports will facilitate fishing transaction activities and increase the country’s economic growth.
