DILI, 11 january 2023 ( TATOLI)– Japan International Cooperation Agency ( JICA) through its Embassy in Timor – Leste, handed over laboratory equipment to the National Hospital Guidu Valadare to support Timor-Leste National Laboratory and the laboratory of Medicine Faculty at the National University of Timor Loro Sa’e.
The Ambassador of Japan in Timor – Leste, Kimura Tedsuya said, the equipment aims to support the young generation of medical workers in Timor – Leste to perform their work.
“We are committed to supporting Timorese people in the area of the health sector as one of the important pillars of our international supporting health in the world including Timor – Leste to more resilient on the sustainable of health in Timor – Leste,” the Ambassador of Japan Tedsuya told reporters at the Ministry of Health, Cai- Coli, Dili on wednesday.
At the same place, the Minister of Health Odete Maria Freitas appreciates the support provided by JICA and is committed to supporting the National Laboratory and UNTL Medicine faculty to identify the virus diseases.
The equipment comprising of; Thermal cycler Real Time PCR 3 units, a Real-Time PCR test kit for Covid – 19 using a Gene expert, 250 units, Viral Transport Medium 2500 units Class III biological safety Cabinet 3 units, Refrigerator for a temporary sample, 3 units, Freezer (-20) for reagents, 3 units and Vortex Mixer 3 units with the worth $130,000 which is bought by JICA to support the Ministry of Health in Timor – Leste.
