DILI, 18 january 2023 (TATOLI)- the second phase of the YIP (Youth Internship Program) program was reopened this year by involving three banks as the Timor-Leste National Commerce Banks (BNCTL), Bank Republik Indonesia (BRI) and Bank Mandiri which aims to increase work experience.
The YIP program is the work of UNDP (United National Development Program), KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency), and SEFOPE (State Secretariat of Professional Training and Employment) through the Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Skills (YEES) project.
“The purpose of the internship is to expand the work experience in an organization, depend on your knowledge and skills related to certain functions under the guidance of a mentor during the internship period, as well as sharpen your soft skills and expand your network to be competitive in the job market,” said UNDP’s official website.
In addition, it is also coordinated with MoHESC (Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture) to place new graduates in private and public organizations to develop their job skills and access the job market.
The three banks that will offer internships composed of BNCTL (30 people), BRI (2 people), and Bank Mandiri (4 people), the internships will also receive a small allowance during the training. The program will have 50% female apprentices and therefore, female candidates and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
The application process for internship vacancies will only be open until 23:59, Saturday, 21 january 2023. While the requirements for each vacancy including criteria and eligibility have been published on the UNDP official website.
This program prioritizes people aged 24-27 years who have just completed the learning process at tertiary institutions in 2020 and above.
Previously, KOICA Representative in Timor-Leste (TL), Eunju Cha said this project would run for six years (2022-2027) with a project budget of $7,320,946.67 sourced from KOICA ($5,998,176.67), the Government through MTCI (Ministry of Tourism, Trade, and Industry) ($832,770.00) and UNDP ($490,000.00).
It is explained that the project location will be implemented in four municipalities such as Dili, Baucau, Ermera, and Liquiça which are expected to benefit 35,105 people.
