DILI, 25 january 2023 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC) is in the process of nominating a new Consul-General to Sydney.

A qualified Timorese will be recruited to fill the vacancy to work in the Consulate General of Timor-Leste in Sydney, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs Adaljiza Magno.

“We are in the process of selecting a new consul general and will therefore announce the results soon. We may simultaneously appoint a MoFAC official to take up diplomatic duties abroad,” Magno said.

The post has remained vacant since the former consul, Luciano Valentim da Conceição, ended his term last year.

In addition to the Consulate-General in Sydney, Timor-Leste has six other diplomatic representatives in Australia, including the Timor-Leste Embassy in Canberra, and Consulates in Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart, and Perth.

The Consulate-General of Timor-Leste in Sydney is one of 525 foreign representations in Australia and one of 101 foreign representations in Sydney.\
