DILI,09 february 2023 (TATOLI) – The Charge d’ Affaires of the United States Embassy (U.S) to Timor – Leste, Tom Daley, said over 600 Timorese had benefited from the scholarship program which is implemented in Timor – Leste.
“Since 20 years ago the U.S through the scholarship program had benefited over 600 Timorese students to study in the United States, and now they have contributed to the national development in Timor – Leste,’’ Tom Daley told reporters at the Embassy of U.S in Pantai Kelapa, Dili on thursday.
The Charge d’ Affairs Tom Daley emphasized to tackle 21st-century challenges, the U.S. is reinvigorating educational, exchange, and youth leadership programs to fuel the next generation of dynamism in both countries.
In this regard, the U.S. had committed to continuing to support another Timorese student this year.
Previously a few months ago the U.S through its Embassy in Timor – Leste with the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture (MHESC) Longinhos dos Santos signed the first-ever bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the joint effort to provide opportunities for scholars and students to engage in international education and exchange.
“As part of our initial commitment, the United States announced our commitment to funding another nine new additional scholarship opportunities through our partnership, particularly for Timorese students and scholars to pursue high education in the United States in support of Timor – Leste s human capital development opportunities,’’ he concluded.
