SoSVTE registers 450 Timorese workers in South Korea are out of the system from 2009 to 2022
DILI, 24 february 2023 (TATOLI)- Secretary of State for Training Vocation and Employment (SoSVTE) registered over 450(15%) of Timorese workers are currently out of the system in South Korea from 2009 to 2022.
The General Director of SoSVTE, Paul Alves said currently SoSVTE registered that over 15% of Timorese workers are illegally working in South Korea.
“Since 2009 until 2022, SoSVTE registered 450 Timorese workers who are currently illegally working in South Korea,’’ The General Director of SoSVTE, Paul Alves told Journalists in Timor-Plaza Suai room, this friday.
He added that despite 450 Timorese workers illegally working in the South Korean government of Timor-Leste through SoSVTE continues to take responsibility to control them.
“We continue to take responsibility to control the legal and illegal for Timorese workers in South Korea. They contribute to the country’s economic development,’’ He explained
The workers are currently working in some sectors such as; Tourism, hospitality, aged care, construction, Agro-Forestry, fishing, and others.
The illegal workers should be performed good behaviors, however, any worker who committed a violation should be deported back to Timor-Leste and not have more opportunities to get back to South Korea.
He stressed that Timor-Leste and South Korea are in good cooperation to provide Timorese with skillful workers to be deployed in South Korea.
So far, the SoSVTE will send more than 800 Timorese workers to be deployed in 2023, while currently, over 3.000 Timorese workers are working in South Korea.
