DILI, 13 march 2023 (TATOLI)- The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Timor- Leste (CCI-TL) recommends Timor-Leste’s Government’s Ministry of Tourism, Commerce and Industry (MTCI) to support the industrial students at universities in Timor-Leste.

The purpose of the recommendation was to prepare the inspired students for the future industry in Timor-Leste.

Based on the observations made by CCI-TL, some students are very creative and capable of opening small-scale industries in Timor-Leste, therefore CCI-TL recommended to MTCI support their creativity and develop their industry.

“We see that there are some students at the National University of Timor Loro Sa’e (UNTL), Department of Chemistry and Polytechnic of Hera who have produced the soaps, and transform the seawater into drinking water. These activities must have the support of financial and material from the Government MTCI to develop their activities to become the small industry in Timor – Leste,’’ The Vice President of CCI- TL, Rui Castro told TATOLI at the National Center for Chega (CNC), Balide Dili.

Rui Castro explained that many university students in Timor-Leste have innovations that could -be oriented toward the industry but the Government through MTCI not prioritize their creativity to develop their industrial products.

“We recommend MTCI to cooperate with UNTL and other local universities to develop their creativities of producing a soap and transforming water into drinking water, including other creativities, to develop their activities into the small industries or can become medium and large industries in the future, to ensure TL dependent on local industry,”
