DILI, march 15, 2023 ( TATOLI) – The President of the National Election Commission ( CNE) José Agustinho Belo, said Thailand through the National Election Commission was prepared to send several delegates to observe the parliamentary elections which will be held on May 21, 2023, in the National Territory of Timor – Leste.
“We already send an official letter to all 10 ASEAN Member States through each National Election Commission such as Thailand, Indonesia, and other ASEAN Members members but currently only the Thai National Election Commission that had confirmed to send the several delegations in observing the parliamentary elections in Timor – Leste, meanwhile the other Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) member countries still yet the definitive answer,” the President of CNE Jose Agustinho Belo told TATOLI in his office Colmera, Dili.
The President of CNE Belo added that the Government through CNE invited them to hold the election observations in ensuring the election’s transparently and fairly based on the democratic values that were implemented to prevent election fraud in Timor – Leste.
“We wish the election transparently and fairly without discrimination, therefore the presence of international election observers from each National Electoral Commission is very crucial to ensure the Parliament election which transparent, free and fair in accordance with democratic values in Timor – Leste,” he concluded.
