DILI, 16 march 2023 (TATOLI) – The CEO of Malaysian Zemancartel Ltd has expressed interest in investing in the noodle factory in Timor-Leste to support Timor-Leste’s economic growth.
The investment for this noodle factory is estimated at US$100 million, which will be the first noodle factory in Timor-Leste.
“We discussed with the President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta, our plan to invest in opening a noodle factory in Timor-Leste,” Zemancartel Company CEO Intan Safinar Safri told reporters after a meeting with President Horta at the Presidential Palace, in Dili.
The factory is expected to create between 500 and 1000 job opportunities for many young Timorese.
“It’s going to be a noodle with a different flavor. So we plan to produce up to 1,000 tons per month, for both local market and export, she explained.
In addition, Safri said that his company is also willing to support Timorese children with protein foods to combat malnutrition.
She said that the Head of State was very supportive of the investment plan: “This is going to be the first noodle factory in the country, so President Horta wants the preparation stages to run smoothly.”
