DILI,16 march 2023 ( TATOLI)– The Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC) of the Republic of Korea, KIM Chang Beom, said the Republic of Korea through the Human Resources Development (HRD) in Timor – Leste will receive another 1,000 Timorese workers to work in South Korea in this year.
” In 2022 South Korea received 500 Timorese workers but in 2023 South Korea through Human Resources Development ( HRD) has decided to receive another 1,000 Timorese workers to work in South Korea this year. The adding of workers is done based on HRD’s assessment that Timorese workers in South Korea show good performance,” the Special Envoy of MoFAC, South Korea, KIM Chang told reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, in Pantai Kelapa Dili, on thursday.
KIM Chang added the Republic of Korea has had strong bilateral cooperation with Timor-Leste in various sectors since Timor – Leste earned its independence.
He emphasized that the Republic of Korea will continue to support Timor – Leste in the various bilateral cooperation in the sector of education, Health, Defence, and Security, Sending Workers, and the relevant sectors through Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and HRD in Timor – Leste to work together with the Government to develop Timor – Leste in the future.
So far Timor – Leste through the Secretariat of State for Training Vocational and Employment (SEFOPE) work together with HRD and had sent over 5, 000 Timorese workers, amongst them around 3500 workers who have returned and some of them had run the business to ensure the sustainability of economic in contributing the diversification of economic in Timor – Leste.
