MHESC and NAAAA officially launched  IAPA for the year 2023

DILI, 17 march 2023 ( TATOLI)– The Ministry of Higher Education Science and Culture (MHESC) together with the National Agency for Academic Assessment and Accreditation ( NAAAA) today launched the Institutional Accreditation of Program Assessment (IAPA) to ensure the quality of higher education in Timor – Leste.

Executive Director of NAAAA, Nilton D. Paia Mau, said since ANAAA was established in 2010 under the project of the World Bank and the Ministry of Education and Culture in four Constitutional Governments, ANAAAA has been contributing toward the quality of Education through its vision and mission.

“NAAAA had worked hard to improve the higher education by doing the dedication toward the development of Human Resources through the higher education in Timor – Leste,” The Executive Director of ANAAA Nilton Paia told reporters at Delta Nova, Dili on Friday.

The Executive Director of ANAAA Nilton Paia highlighted, to achieve the quality of higher education takes a process and requires everyone’s contribution especially the lecturer how to push the students to study hard to ensure the quality of higher education in Timor – Leste.

He added as a part of its objective to oversee the quality of higher education institutions, ANAAA is also responsible for monitoring the training, and workshops nationally and internationally.

“Recently ANAAA provided accreditation certificates to 16 higher education institutions including the National University of Timor Loro Sa’e and Polytechnic with around 155 study programs for the level of diplomas, and master’s degrees. 

He added that this year ANAAA will conduct an assessment for 1 newly established Institute Polytechnic Betano and 35 study programs across the 16 accreditated institutions in Timor – Leste.

” This year we will conduct the accreditation assessment to the new Institute in Betano and 16 accreditated institutions with 35 study programs the assessment will be conducted by ANAAA and International creditors from Portugal, Indonesia, the Philippines as well as Malaysia in November 2023,” he said.

At the same place the Representative of MHESC, General Director, Maria Filomena Lay, thanked the structural of ANAAA for the hard work to increase the quality of higher education in Timor – Leste by working together with International accreditation agencies from Portugal and ASEAN accreditors and also coordinate all Rectors from the local Universities to ensure the quality of higher education in Timor – Leste.
