STAE – UNDP provides Electoral training to 60 facilitators from 14 municipalities

DILI, 27 march 2023 ( TATOLI) – The Secretariat of Technical Administration of Election ( STAE) and the United Nations Development Programme ( UNDP), today provided the election training to 60 facilitators from 14 municipalities to become the Trainers of Training ( ToT) in every municipality.

The 60 facilitators are trained to offer the training to the brigades and polling staff for the upcoming parliamentary election.

General Director of STAE, Acilino Manuel Branco, said this training was facilitated by UNDP for 3 days starting from 27 to 29 March. the training focused on election mechanisms, election laws, the functions of the Brigades, and the functions of polling staff in each municipality of the national territory of Timor – Leste.

” STAE together with UNDP provided Election training to the 60 facilitators from 14 municipalities, to continue forward this knowledge to 1,000 Brigades and 18,000 polling staff in the national territory to prepare for the upcoming election,” the General Director of STAE Acilino Manuel Branco, told TATOLI in Delta Nova on monday.

Branco added that the training of the facilitators is very crucial to ensure the election that is transparent, free, and fair in accordance with the democratic values ​​that are implemented in Timor – Leste.

At the same place, the representative from UNDP, Tito da Costa, said that UNDP supports STAE to facilitate the training to increase the knowledge of the brigades and polling staff in each municipality across the Timor – Leste.

“We provide election training to 60 facilitators according to the regulatory corridors and election mechanisms based on the democratic principles in Timor – Leste,” he concluded.
