DILI, march 31, 2023 (TATOLI)- World Health Organization in Timor-Leste (WHO) deployed 13 health field officers to support and strengthen health services at 13 municipalities level, including of special zone of Oecusse Ambeno(RAEOA).
Country director of WHO in Timor-Leste, Arvind Mathur said WHO has deployed 13 field health officers to employ to the health post at the municipalities level, aiming to support and strengthen the health service system at the municipalities level.
“We deploy health field officers to work closely with the health directors and department to support them on health service at municipal levels,” Country Director of WHO Arvind Mathur said in his remarks at Novo Turizmu hotel, this Friday.
He added the health officer will take responsibility to support the municipality health directorate on data collection and providing reports on all cases in each municipal hospital.
There are 3 main duties of the public health officials such as:
- To support municipality health services in implementing public health programs.
- As eyes and ears of the Minister of Health for the implementation of the health program.
- To function as a bride between the minister of health, the municipality’s health service, and the World Health Organization
Minister of Health, Odete Maria Freitas Belo said this deployment program is a result of cooperation between MoH and WHO.
“The 13 public health field officers will provide health assistance in the municipality and sub municipalities hospital. They will ensure all health service systems can be properly implemented,’’ She said
“They are working closely with the Minister of Health and also in coordination with World Health Organization to ensure all data must be registered for all patients, kind of disease and also pediatric,’’ He explained
Mrs. Belo stressed that is required more improvement in the health service system at the municipal and sub-municipal level, on this reason WHO employed professional health to supporting on supervision and capacity building for the implementation of all health programs.
“We provide professional health offices to give health assistance in remote areas. It is to ensure the decentralization of health service across territories on Timor-Leste,’’ He concluded
It is known that 13 official health offices are employed by WHO and will be deployed to Aileu, Ainaro, Baucau, Bobonaru, Covalima, Dili, Ermera, Manatuto, Manufahi, Lautem, Liquica, Viqueque, Atauru, and Especial zone Ambeno Oecusse (RAEOA).
So far, before the 13 official health offices are leaving to work at the municipality level in the next week, they have attended 3 weeks of health service, data collection, and writing report capacity building.
