DILI 26 april 2026 (TATOLI)- The Director of Tourism, Agriculture, Food Security and Market Management, Akásiu De Araújo said the Ataúru Municipal Authority identified four potential tourist sites in the Ataúru to carry out direct observations in the areas needed for development.
“Currently we are in the process of identifying tourism potential. We collect data that will be used to write proposals for further development on the truism site, ” Director of Tourism, Agricultural Market Management and Food Security, Akásiu De Araújo told the Tatoli in his office, Villa Maun-Meta, this Wednesday.
He added that after the data collection process, the tourism authority will provide financial proposals for infrastructure, sanitation, and more: “We identified four beautiful white sand beaches in the municipality of Ataúru consisting of Akrena, Baruana, Lampian, and Beloi beaches,”
“We also assess religious tourism sites in Ataúru such as the tourist spot
“Ikan ho Paun” which is a historical place for the Catholic religion and is the first baptism of the indigenous people of Ataúru to become Catholic,”
While another activity is to outline the original history of Ataúru, “Where we observe the festival claiming of the Pinan trees”Sa’e Bua” in Makdadi village called Abak Tedi,”
According to Mr. Araújo, Atauro’s tourism potential needs to be developed, while the authenticity of the historical sites will be maintained because they are of value in the tourism sector.
He also said that the identification of tourism sites in Atauro was in coordination with the Ministry of Trade and Tourism Industry (MTCI), other local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) including the local government, and cultural observers.
