DILI, 24 may 2023 (TATOLI)— The National Scout Union of Timor-Leste (NSUTL) will send 29 members to take part in the 25th World Jamboree in South Korea this July.
NSUTL President Idelta Maria Rodrigues stated that the university will send 29 members to participate in world organizations in South Korea on World Jamboree Day.
“We have prepared a team since last year—29 people who will represent Timor-Leste to participate in the World Jamboree in South Korea,” the President of NSUTL said when attending a meeting in the Kofi Anan PBB Caicoli Conference Room this Wednesday.
Rodrigues informed that 29 NSUTL members planned to leave at the end of July to participate in the 25th World Jamboree in South Korea, which would take place from August 2 to 12, 2023.
The Scout Movement Kwartir organizes the Jamboree, which is a Gathering Scout Meeting in the form of a huge camp, from the branch level to the national level.
The East Timor Catholic Scout Corps and the Timor-Leste Scout Organization, both members of the Lusophone Scout Community, merged to become the NSUTL organization on December 2, 2005. “We currently have over 20,000 members”.
The NSUTL is in talks with the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MoEYS) about involving Scouts in school extracurricular activities across the region.
“We are currently seeking financial support through providing a proposal for the United Nations Organization to help NSUTL be able to take part in the international Scouting Jamboree in South Korea this year,’’ She conclude
