DILI, july 14, 2023 (TATOLI) The Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts, and Culture (MoYSAC) and Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Rural Development Affairs (DPMCMRDA) discussed the priority program to promote youth skills and abilities in the sports sector.

Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts, and Culture, Nelio Isaac Sarmento, said the ninth government will focus on promoting youth ability in sport.

“As we know, Martial Arts and Ritual Art have the identity of sports.” So, we have provided a sports program and submitted it to the National Parliament to have approval,’’ Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts, and Culture, Nelio Isaac Sarmento, told journalists after meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Rural Development Affairs (DPMCMRDA) in Lecidere on thursday.

He added that It is a great honor to involve some martial and ritual arts in the discussion of the implementation of sports programs, and the discussion is also focused on some issues faced by martial and ritual arts to provide solutions for every challenge.

“We are planning to carry out the competition of martial arts at the municipal and national levels and also to invest in human resources to participate in an International event. However, the program has been provided and requested by the National Parliament for approval,’’ he said.

Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Rural Development Affairs, Mariano Assanami Sabino, said the ninth government policy wishes to transform youth ability at an internal and external level.

It is required for all martial and ritual arts to contribute to the country’s stability and peace.

“I believe that everyone has the freedom to take part in any kind of activity that contributes to the country’s development. It means our freedom can give huge respect to the over 300.000 Timorese heroes who died and suffered for this country,’’ Vice Prime Minister Assanami said.

He stressed that Martial and Ritual arts should be the principal means to guarantee the totality of Freedom for everyone and also ensure the country’s stability.

It is known that Timor-Leste has 18 martial arts organizations composed of PSHT, IKS, KORKA, Taekwondo Wushu Boxe, the Federation of Kunfu Master Timor-Leste, Kempo, Karate-Do, Padjadjaran, Karate, and Ritual Arts Organizations composed of 55 organizations, 77 organizations, and others.
